Pebble Smart™ Doggie Doorbell will help
save your doors from being scratched up.
It is also a fun training toy to teach your
dog a new trick. You will have a lot of fun
with your dog using Pebble Smart™
Doggie Doorbell. Here are the easy steps.
Installation

AA Batteries
Push Plate
D Install 2 new AA batteries (not included)
in the receiver.
D Separate the adapter cover from the
housing, by gently pulling the hook
downward.
D Hold both sides of the transmitter
button and slide the transmitter out of the
housing, bottom first.
On the back of the transmitter, pull out
D
the plastic tab while holding down the
back cover. This will activate the small 12v
battery preinstalled within the transmitter.
Push the transmitter to test. The receiver
should sound.
D Decide if you want your dog to use the
doorbell when he comes in or goes out.
Then select accordingly either an inside or
an outside location on the wall near the
door. Note: For indoor installation, a
wood or glass surface is more preferable
than a drywall surface. (See caution
below.)
D With your dog in standing position, hold
his head up slightly and mark the height of
his nose.
D Thoroughly clean the mounting area
above the mark.
D Peel the paper off the mounting tape
on the back of the housing. Caution:
indoor installation, especially on a drywall,
expose only the ends of the mounting
tape by folding the two ends of the paper
toward the center. This will help reduce
the chance of damaging the wall surface,
in case the housing needs to be moved or
removed at a later time.
D With the inside arrow pointing upward,
press the housing firmly onto the wall, just
above the mark.
Replace the transmitter inside the
D
housing.
D Hook the adapter cover over the
housing and snap the hook in at the
bottom.
D Push the push plate to test. You should
need to push only gently to ring the bell.
Note: If your dog is sensitive to sound, do
not test with the receiver close to your
dog. To train your dog to be comfortable
For
with the sound, start by placing the
receiver in another room or a drawer and
letting your dog hear the sound in the
distance. As he becomes comfortable with
the sound, gradually bring the receiver
closer.
Training
Now the fun begins!
Method 1: Using Treats as Lures
This method is effective with dogs that are
food motivated. If your dog is motivated
by rewards other than food, see Method 2.
Installation and Training
D Drop a small piece of your dog's
favorite treat in the treat space behind
the push plate.
D Draw your dog's attention to the push
plate and say "Ring the bell!" (or any
other command you choose). As soon as
he touches the push plate, praise and
reward him with another piece of treat.
Training with a clicker will quicken the
process.
D Repeat until your dog gets it. Then
transition to rewarding only when he
makes the bell ring.
D To remove the treat, lift the plastic
lining inside the treat space. (Treat should
not be left in the space after the training
session.)
Next train him without a treat in the
D
treat space. Point to the push plate (or
stare at it) and say your command. As
soon as your dog nudges the push plate,
praise and reward him enthusiastically.
