    INTENDED USE The SOCAM UltiMate is designed to be used as an action camera ® for private use. In combination with mounting accessories the product can be mounted on helmets, skiing goggles and regular tripod attachments, just to name a few.

    • Charge the rechargeable battery regularly, even if you are not using the product. Due to the rechargeable battery technology being used, you do not need to discharge the rechargeable battery first. • Never charge the rechargeable battery of the product unattended. • When charging, place the product on a surface that is not heat- sensitive.

    MOUNTINg With the current delivery of contents the SOCAM can be mounted with the following configurations: Flat surface, curved (convex) surface, splash-proof case and standardized tripod attachment. Mounting the universal clip The universal clip is required for all mounting configurations except if the SOCAM is mounted directly onto a standard tripod attachment.

    Prior to attaching the mount to the surface do the TIPS following: • Clean the mounting surface. Oil, grease, dirt and dust reduce adhesion. This may lead to the SOCAM falling off and being damaged. • Attach the mount at room temperature. • Avoid uneven and rough mounting surfaces.

  • Page 21: Goggle Mount (Not Included)

    • The goggle mount (30005SC) is not included in delivery, however described here as an extention to the SOCAM. • The goggle mount (»Fig. 5) allows you to mount the SOCAM to a strap with a max. width of 40 mm (e.g. skiing goggles). Hook the goggle mount onto the strap.

    If splash water, dirt or mud is expected during use, the splash-proof case must be used. Use of the splash-proof case has the additional benefit of protecting the SOCAM from damage and dust. Proceed as follows (»Fig. 6): To open the splash-proof case, press the locks at the bottom of the splash-proof case and remove the cover.

    ATTAChMENT The standard clip attachment thread is compatible with standard tripods or accessories featuring a standard camera thread. To attach the SOCAM via tripod attachment, remove the universal clip. For more mounting options refer to TIPS www.socam.me. 24 » TRIPOD ATTACHMENT...

    Lay the cable flat across the battery and put the front cover in place again. Make sure the cables are not pinched. Tighten the screw. To remove the battery follow the steps in reverse order. Before using the SOCAM for the first time fully charge the battery. » BATTERY 25...

    Fig. 7 Battery status A depleted battery has the consequence of the SOCAM shutting down automatically. The SOCAM will notify you of a depleted battery in two ways: • 10 minutes before shutdown: The (17) flashes with a 1 second interval (slow).

    Charging battery When charging via computer turn the SOCAM off before connecting. The battery is charged via the supplied microUSB cable (G). Remove the protective cover (10) at the back to the SOCAM. Plug the microUSB plug into the microUSB socket (11). Plug the other end into a 5 V/DC USB power source (e.g.

    SD STORAgE MicroSD card The SOCAM does not offer built-in storage. A microSD storage card is needed instead. The capacity of the microSD card is very much dependent on the recording duration.   • Page 29 Looping mode: TIPS The looping mode overwrites first saved files on the microSD card when the storage capacity is reached. Looping mode can be activated via Wi-Fi SOCAM ® applications. See chapter (»Wi-Fi SOCAM ® applications) and the application’s help menu for details.

    • Turn the SOCAM off and connect it to a computer with the supplied microUSB cable. After turning the SOCAM on again it shows up as mass storage drive.

    ThE NAVIgATION INTERFACE Photo mode: Photo mode: Take photos (max. 16 MP), or photo burst with 10 images/ second. Video mode: Record video and slow motion video. Take still images while recording. Time lapse: Time lapse photo taking (max. 16 MP, common resolution setting).

    LED lights start flashing in the following sequence for 3 cycles with a 1 second interval (slow): Red > Off > Blue > Off > Purple > Off. The SOCAM is ready to use.     MICROPhONE The SOCAM features a built-in microphone, which may suffice for regular sound recording. If you require more precision and quality you can connect an external microphone. Remove the protective cover (10) connect the microphone jack plug to the external microphone jack (12).

    PHOTO VIDEO TIME LAPSE Default settings Default settings apply when you turn on the SOCAM for the first time or the SOCAM is reset. Note the following default settings: • Photo mode: 16 MP • Burst mode: 16 MP, 10 photos/s • Video mode:...

    1 second (Depending on free storage). The blinks in red for every image taken. Continuous photo burst is not possible. After each photo burst the SOCAM requires some time to save the images to the microSD card and prepare for the next photo burst.

    Repeatedly press the button until the lights up blue. The SOCAM has switched to time lapse mode. • 5 second interval: Press the shutter button to start shooting 1 image every 5 seconds at 16 MP. The LED and the blink in blue when a photo is taken.

    Connect your end device to the established network (see below for default SSID and default password). » SSID: SOCAM, Default password: UltiMate 4. Once SOCAM and end device are connected the LED blinks in purple at a 1 second interval. To turn Wi-Fi off, press and hold and shutter button until all LED lights flash once and return to normal.

    SOCAM ON TV ® The SOCAM allows you to review recorded data on a TV with HDMI connection. Two modes are available: Preview and playback. Connection Check the instructions for use that came with your TV in regards to safety instructions and connection of external devices.

    Playback mode • Playback mode is activated upon connection of the SOCAM to the TV. • Press the shutter button to display previous photo/video. Press the button to display the next photo/video. • Press and hold the shutter button for 3 seconds. After releasing the video is played back.

    Download the new firmware to the root level of the microSD card inserted in your SOCAM. Disconnect the SOCAM from your computer. Turn on the SOCAM. All LEDs turn on. Wait until all LEDs go out (approx. 40 s). The SOCAM will turn off by itself. This concludes the firmware update process.

    FACTORY RESET It may happen that the SOCAM does not accept any user input or does not react to any form of input. A factory reset can help remedy this problem. Proceed as follows: Turn the SOCAM off. 2. Press and simultaneously hold the and shutter button until all LEDs light up.

    • Never submerge the SOCAM in water. • Apart from occasional cleaning, the SOCAM is maintenance-free. To clean the SOCAM, use a dry, soft, anti-static and lint-free cloth. • Do not use alcohol, acid liquids, or abrasive cleaning agents. • Accessories can be cleaned with a damp cloth and must be dried thoroughly after.
