  • Page 2 Both the preamp tubes and power tube are cathode biased, or self-biasing. You may replace these tubes without rebiasing. The Nickel Box is built with either a 9 pin EL84 or 8 pin 6V6. These tubes are not interchangeable. You may substitute other tubes for the 12AX7, such as a 12AY7, 12AU7, 12AT7, etc.
