INTRODUCTION The FRADAN Back-Pack Blower model BB-70 is a ruggedly built, high performance gasoline powered unit designed for blowing leaves and other lawn debris. Proper maintenance and use of the FRADAN Back-Pack Blower will guarantee years of safe, service-free, reliable operation. We urge you to follow these instructions to assure safe and reliable operation.
GRAPHIC WARNINGS Because the BB-70 is a highpower tool, special safety precaution must be observed to reduce the risk of personal injury. Read this manual carefully. Be familiar with the controls and the proper use of the unit. Know how to shut it off, and how to unhook a harnessed unit quickly.
• Inspect the entire machine for loose parts (nuts, bolts, screws, etc.) and any damage. Repair or replace as nec- essary before using the machine. • DO NOT USE any attachment with this Back Pack Blower other than the ones recommended by FRADAN. Serious injury to the operator or bystanders could result as well as damage to the machine.
SAFETY RULES & PRECAUTIONS • Use only FRADAN original equipment parts when servicing the unit, this will ensure safe and proper performance of your product. These parts are available from your dealer. The use of any other accessories or attachments may cause a potential hazard or injury to the user, damage to the machine and void this warranty.
ASSEMBLY • Unfold Control Arm; Hold the upper end of the control arm in hand and rotate counter clock wise until it clicks into place. Rotate clockwise to reverse the process. • Install the flexible pipe and the large clamp on to the elbow of the blower and tighten the large clamp.
Fuel used for this model is a mixture of unleaded gasoline and approved engine lubricant. When mixing gasoline with a FRADAN approved two-cycle engine oil, use only gasoline which contains NO ETHANOL or METHANOL (Types of Alcohol) Use branded 89 octane or higher unleaded gasoline known to be of good quality. This will help to avoid possible damage to engine fuel lines and other engine parts.
PREPARING FOR OPERATIONS FUEL AND OIL MIXTURE Inspect fuel tank making sure that it is clean and fill with fresh fuel. Use a mixture of 40:1. (See Fuel and Oil Mixture on page 6) WHEN MIXING GASOLINE WITH TWO CYCLE ENGINE OiL, USE ONLY GASOLINE WHICH CONTAINS NO ETHANOL OR METHANOL (TYPES OF ALCOHOL).
Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes. FRADAN BB-70 can be run at any speed between an idle of 2800 RPM and maximum load speed of 7300 RPM. The velocity of the air stream can therefore readily be controlled from a gentle breeze to a high speed blast mov- ing at 210 MPH, which will move garden leaves, twigs, and other debris from lawns and paved areas.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE • AIR FILTER Accumulative dust in the air filter will reduce engine efficiency, increase fuel consumption and allow abrasive parti- cles to pass into the engine. Remove the air filter as often as necessary to maintain in a clean condition. Light surface dust can readily be removed by tapping the filter.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE • SPARK PLUG Do not attempt to remove the plug from a hot engine in order to avoid possible damage to the threads. Clean or replace the plug if fouled with heavy or oily deposits. Replace the plug if the center elec- trode is worn rounded at the end.
Install new, properly gapped spark plug. • When there is serious trouble with the unit, do not try to repair it yourself, but have your FRADAN distributor or dealer do it for you. EXTENDED STORAGE • Inspect, clean and repair unit if necessary.
