1. Features Optimise operating software When charging or discharging, the charger has an 'AUTO' function that sets current automatically. For Lithium batteries, this can prevent an over-charging situation which could lead to an explosion. Users can set error checking of the charger to maximise saftey For Charging the charger is fitted with separate 2, 3,4,5 and 6 cell Lipo balance charging ports and banana plug output port.

Maximum safety Delta-peak sensitivity: The automatic charge termination program works on the principle of the Delta-peak voltage detection.(NiCd/NiMH) Auto-charge current limit: When charging NiCd or NiMH on 'AUTO' current mode, you can set the upper limit of charge current suitable to each battery. Capacity limit: C h a r g i n g c y c l e w i l l s t o p w h e n c a p a c i t y l i m i t r e a c h e d .
3. Warnings and safety notes • Never leave the charger unsupervised when it is connected to a power supply. If any error is observed immediately terminate the process and refer to the instruction manual. • Keep the unit free from dust, damp, rain, heat, direct sunlight and vibration. •...

Always verify the capacity and the voltage of Lithium batteries, ensure the correct voltage and capacity have been selected. Failure to select the correct setup could cause fire and or explosion leading to serious injury. Discharge • The typical purpose of discharge is to determine the residual capacity of the battery, or to lower the voltage of battery to a defined level.

5. Initial Parameter set up (Users' set up) On first using the Spider 1 charger in User set mode it will offer default values When you are ready to alter the parameter value in the program, press Start/ Enter key to make it blink then change the value with INC or DEC key. The value will be stored by pressing Start/Enter key once.

NiMH/NiCd SENSITIVITY: This screen shows the D e l t a P e a k s e n s i t i v i t y of NiMH and NiCd batteries. The values range from 5 to 20mV per cell. If the sensitivity is set higher there is a possibility of overcharging the battery, a lower setting may result in undercharging the cells.
CAPACITY CUT-OFF: This program sets the maximum charge capacity. If the delta-peak voltage is not detected nor the safety timer expires, this feature will automatically stop the process at the selected capacity value. KEY BEEP/BUZZER: The beep sound is activated on key press. Buzzer/melody for program completion.
The left side of the first line shows the type of battery you selected in users setting. The value on the left side of the second line sets the charge current and the value on the right side of second line sets the voltage of the battery pack. After setting the current and voltage press Start/Enter key for more than 3 seconds to start charging.
6.3 'FAST' charging Lithium batteries As the the charging process ends the current will drop from 1/5th of the initial value to 1/10th. The battery will not reach full capacity, but the charge time is greatly reduced. You can set up the charging current and the voltage of the battery pack being charged.
6.5 Discharging Lithium battery The value of discharge current on the left side of screen may not exceed 1C for maximum safety and the final voltage on the right should not be under the voltage level that is recommended by the battery manufacturer to avoid deep discharge.
7. NiMH/NiCd battery program These programs are for charging or discharging NiMH (Nickel-Metal-Hydride) or NiCd (Nickel-Cadmium) battery commonly used for R/C model applications. To alter the value, press Start/Enter key to make it blink then change the value using the INC or DEC key.
Set the sequence on the left and the number of cycle on the right. You can use this function for balancing, refreshing and break-in the battery. To avoid rising temperature of the battery, there will a brief cool-off period that already fixed at ‘User setting’ after each charge and discharge process.
Set discharge current on the left and final coltage on the right. The discharge current ranges from 0.1 to 1.0A To start the process, press Start/Enter key for more than 3 seconds. The screen displays the current state of discharge. You can alter the discharge current by pressing Start/Enter key during the process.
This screen represents the specification of the battery. The following screens will automatically display battery type you set up. This example shows a NiMH battery pack, with 12 cells (12*1.2v:14.4v) and a capacity of 3000mAh. Setting up the charge current for manual charge mode, or the current limit for automatic charge mode.
Accessing additional battery information During charging and discharging you can access various information by pressing the DEC button. During Lithium battery program pressing INC will access cell voltage information. Program has reached final voltage and ended. Displayed capacity cut-off function is turn on and the setting value of capacity.

Incorrect polarity connected. Battery connection is interrupted. Short-circuit of the output termination. Input voltage wrong. The voltage of the battery pack has been selected incorrectly! The charger has malfunctioned for some reason. Seek professional advice. The voltage is lower than which is set. Please check the number of cells in the battery pack.
