With 2.3 Mbps symmetric transmission characteristics over single loop, SHDSL is best suited to data-only applications that need high upstream bit-rates. Though SHDSL does not carry voice like SHDSL, new voice-over-DSL techniques may be used to convey digitized voice and data via SHDSL.
