Chapter 5. Read me

This supplement provides additional hints and tips to assist you if you experience any problems
with L2230x Wide USB Port Replicator Monitor (hereafter called port replicator).
v The Ethernet driver of the port replicator cannot be installed on a computer with a Microsoft ®
®
XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) operating system. If you are using the Windows XP SP2

operating system, the Ethernet driver of the port replicator cannot be installed successfully.
A yellow exclamation mark displays before the USB Ethernet Device option, which is the
name of the port replicator detected by your system, in the Computer Management
window.
This has been resolved in the Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) and Microsoft
®
Windows Vista operating systems. To resolve the problem, you can download two patches
from the Microsoft official Web site and install the patches to upgrade Windows XP SP2.

To view the port replicator in the Computer Management window, do the following:
1. Right-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
2. Click Manage. The Computer Management window opens.
3. Click Device Manager in the left pane. All hardware devices installed on your
computer display.
4. Expand the Network adapters category. The USB Ethernet Device option displays.
