Installation Instructions
Hint: watching the video is much easier than reading this.
Thank you for purchasing the PowerLogix PowerCube Enclosure for your Apple
Power Mac G4 Cube computer.
Although this manual provides all the information you need to assemble
your PowerCube, we highly recommend viewing the installation video that
came with your PowerCube. It will greatly clarify and speed up the
installation.
The video can be played on most computers (Mac or PC) or most DVD players. Use
the pause button at each step.

Warning! As with any hardware upgrade, back up your hard drive prior to
installation.
Your Cube is a static-sensitive device. It is susceptible to damage if proper
procedures are not followed during installation.
Although these instructions should provide enough detail for almost anyone to
install the PowerCube, if you are not comfortable opening your Mac, please have
your authorized service provider install it.
System Requirements: Apple Power Mac G4 Cube.
Prior to Installation
Before installation, please refer to the illustrations in this manual to familiarize
yourself with the PowerCube as well as procedures in opening the case of your
PowerMac G4 Cube. Also, make sure to watch the installation video that came with
your PowerCube on the CD.

  • Page 3 Turn the Cube upside down and place onto a soft surface. Unplug all the peripherals except the power cord. Verify the power cord is plugged into a grounded socket. Touch the bare metal of the AGP graphics card to dissipate any static charges. Then unplug the power cord from the Cube.
  • Page 4 After the core is removed, turn the core on its side until the DC/DC card is visible. The DC/DC Card is next to the video card, and on the opposite side of the memory sockets. Refer to the photo below. The 4 wire connector plugs into the DC/DC card.
  • Page 5 Unplug the cable from the 4 pin connector on the DC/DC card. Release the latch holding the DC/DC card into the socket on the motherboard, and unplug the DC/DC card. (Refer to the video for more detail.) Release latch – press down with torx driver Remove all eight screws from the top plate of the Cube.

  • Page 7 Next to the Airport Card, or Airport Slot if there is no card installed, is one of the Airport antennas. Grip the antenna and slide it towards the Airport slot to remove Remove the aluminum side cover on the side of the cube next to the CD-ROM slot.
  • Page 8 Route the Airport antenna around the corner post and through the ribbon cable as shown. You may have to remove the two corner posts. Remove the second Airport antenna in a similar manner as the first antenna. The Airport antennas and wire will then be completely separated from the Cube core.
  • Page 9 Mount the DC/DC card onto the mounting bracket as shown using the screws, spacers, and nuts. Remove the center post screw on the side of the Cube with the Airport card or slot.
  • Page 10 Mount the DC/DC card and bracket onto that side of the Cube. The center post screws hold the bracket in place. Remember the longer screw goes into the top plate.

  • Page 12 Red wire Attach Velcro to the front of each Airport antenna. Attach Velcro to the inside of the PowerCube where the port hole covers are located. Only attach Velcro to the two port hole covers as shown; the third does not require Velcro.
  • Page 13 Velcro Mounting locations Reattach the Airport antenna to the Airport Card, if you have one. Reinstall the three remaining side screws to the top plate of the core. (One screw holding the DC/DC bracket is already installed.) Remember, the longest screw goes into the center post. Do not replace the four top screws.
  • Page 14 Put a soft cloth or plastic cover on the top of your original acrylic Cube enclosure. Take the Cube core and stack it onto the original Cube enclosure. Align the edge of the core so that the CD-ROM slot in the core aligns with the CD-ROM slot in the acrylic enclosure.
  • Page 15 Place the acrylic Power Button on top of the power button on the Cube. Align the graphic as shown to match the orientation of the original power button. Take the grille and place it over the power button onto the top of the Cube core. Align the four holes in each corner of the grille with the screw holes on top of the Cube core.
  • Page 16 Place the PowerCube enclosure over the Cube core. Align the Power Button and the four screw holes. Place the four long screws into the mounting holes on top of the PowerCube and tighten them slightly. Make any minor physical adjustments so that the grille, button, and PowerCube align properly, and tighten the screws using the Torx screwdriver.
