- Page 2 Installation of the FM 4310i unit 1. Position the 4310i unit in your vehicle 1.1. The FM 4310i unit must be installed horizontally – or as close to horizontal as possible. A few degrees of tilt are acceptable. 1.2. The unit should preferably be mounted somewhere under the dashboard, but other positions such as under the centre console or under the front seats may also work.

As a reliability precaution, the FM 4310i unit will shut down when it reaches an internal temperature greater than 70 degrees Celsius. It will automatically restart once the unit cools down again. The unit also stops charging the internal backup battery above 45 degrees Celsius, but this should be of no consequence as the unit runs off the car battery at all times and keeps its internal battery fully charged automatically.
