Maintenance

Recommended Maintenance Schedule

Service Item
Drain the fuel and run the engine until the fuel tank
Fuel tank
and the carburetor are dry.
Scraper
Check the scraper. Replace if necessary.
Drive belt
Inspect the drive belt. Replace if necessary.
Spark plug
Clean, inspect, and gap. Replace if necessary.
Rotor blades
Inspect the rotor blades. Replace if necessary.
Tighten
Check for loose fasteners and tighten them if
fasteners
necessary.
POTENTIAL HAZARD
If you leave the wire on the spark plug, someone could start the engine.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
Someone accidentally starting the engine could seriously injure you or other bystanders.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
Pull the wire off of the spark plug before you do any maintenance. Also, push it aside so it
does not accidentally contact the spark plug.

Emptying the Fuel Tank

1. Stop the engine and remove the key from the switch.
2. Remove the fuel tank cap and use a pump-type syphon
to drain the fuel into a clean and approved gasoline
container.

CAUTION
Note: When you unfold the handle the discharge chute,
tighten all the knobs securely.

3. Start the engine and allow it to run until it consumes
all the fuel in the fuel tank and stops. Repeat this step
two more times to ensure that the fuel tank and the
carburetor are empty.
