V1.10.02 GD‐1201 User Guide GPSViewer Instruction Guide 1. Download the GPS Viewer (Windows) application from the following link: http://www.taimeta.com/GD1201 . 2. Insert GD‐1201 into an USB port of the targeted computer system and make sure the GD‐1201 has direct view to the open‐sky and with no shelter above it. 3. Click the “GPS Viewer” icon to launch the GPS Viewer. 4. Set the “Baud Rate” field of the GPS Viewer to 9600. 5. Set the “COM Port” field of the GPS Viewer to the port number occupied by the GPS Dongle, please refer the ”step 4” of “USB Driver Installation” section. 6. Insert GD‐1201 into the target system device that you would like to apply GPS software and make sure of no shelter above GPS Dongle. 2. Configure GPS parameters in the GPS software. (It varies from each software interface; please refer to the manual of map software for more information.) ‐ Please check which number of COM Port was occupied by USB‐to‐UART Bridge from “Device Manager” of “Control Panel” and set Baud rate as 4800. 3. When the setting is complete, your GPS software will receive GPS data and you are able to proceed with the operation of GPS software – navigation, searching for point‐of‐interested, restaurants…‐ after completion of position fixing (within 45 seconds on average). Notes before use 1. After inserting the GD‐1201 dongle into the system device, please notice the LED of the Dongle flashing. If the LED is not flashing, it is most likely that there might be something wrong with the USB driver. Please confirm installation or re‐install USB driver. 2. When operating the GD‐1201 dongle inside an automobile, if your automobile windshield or car window is fitted with metallic sun shielding or screen, the metallic nature of the windshield insulation might adversely affect the sensitivity and fixing time of the GD‐1201 dongle. 3. This is due to the EMI interference emanating from some models of the notebook/netbook computer. In this situation, please utilize the USB extension cable included in the package to ensure the GD‐1201 dongle is sufficiently apart from the EMI interference and receives good GPS signal. Used equipment must be disposed of in compliance with current environmental protection regulations. You should return it to your reseller or dispose of it in an approved recycling centre. ...
