1.1. DEC 1000-t Digital Entertainment Centre The DEC 1000-t product is designed for receiving, decoding and displaying Digital Terrestrial Free-to-Air TV and Radio Broadcasts on a standard analogue TV set or Video Recorder. The product can receive all the Free-to-Air channels without the need for any additional specialised equipment.
One of the main reasons is that there will be more choice of what is available to view. With interactive TV becoming the way of the future, consumers will have more of a say as to what standards are set in place in regards to broadcasts. The images and sound are clearer and widescreen TV is much easier to access through Digital TV.

4.3. Connecting the DEC 1000-t to your TV set There are two ways to connect the DEC 1000-t to your TV set: through a SCART cable or through an RF cable. A SCART connection will give the best digital picture quality.

When using the RF-Loop cable, the DEC 1000-t sends video over Channel 38. To change the RF output channel on the DEC 1000-t, refer to Section 7.2 page 32.

Tune your TV set to the output channel used by the DEC 1000-t (normally Channel 38, but this channel can be changed). When you turn on the DEC 1000-t, you should see the Initialising screen on your TV set. Please note that BBC licensing fees apply. If you use or install television-receiving equipment to receive or record television programme services you are required by law to have a valid TV Licence.
4.5. Connecting the Power Supply Please ensure you have read and fully understood the 'Important Information and Safety Notes' located (SECTION X) at the front of this manual before proceeding to the next step. Do NOT switch on the mains power until AlL the connections have been made. Plug the connector from the supplied 12V DC power supply unit into the Power supply socket on the DEC2000-t.

See Troubleshooting – Section 9 page If you are using the unit with a SCART cable, as soon as the DEC 1000-t is powered it will switch your TV to AV mode. If this does not happen then please press the AV button on your TV remote control and switch modes manually.
4.8. Initial Scan for Channels The Initialisation screen will then change to the DEC 1000-t Channel Scan window and will automatically go into auto-channel search mode to tune your digital terrestrial channels. When the receiver is tuning for channels it will display the above screen where information of the Network Name(s), List of services, number of services found so far and search progress will be displayed.
Remote Control & Basic Functions You control the DEC 1000-t with the Remote Control (see below). This enables you to see the Menu options, change channels in every day use and control the sound level. The most used buttons are the [Select/OK] to set an option and the [CANCEL] button to cancel or return to a previous screen.

5.1. Program List Menu and Selecting Channels The [Select/OK] button will display the mini TV list (See image below). The [TV], [FAV], [RADIO] buttons will also display the mini list if the current service list mode is the same as the one selected. If you press the [Select/OK] button, the Mini TV List will appear and display all available TV and Radio Channels.
With this list you can use the Up/Down/Left/Right to scroll through the channel list to find your favourite channel. Once you have highlighted your desired channel, press [SELECT/OK] to change to that channel. 5.1.1. Volume +/- and Mute Function By pressing the Volume + or – button you can increase or decrease the volume level of your programme.
5.1.3. Subtitles When available, press the [SUB] button to toggle the subtitles on or off. Subtitles are broadcasted at particular times and programs. Contact the broadcaster for further information. 5.1.4. Pause Press the [PAUSE] button to pause the TV picture. Press [PAUSE] again to restore. 5.1.5.
Interactive Services 6.1.1. [TEXT] Button Press the [TEXT] button to access the digital TELETEXT menu, which will appear on the bottom of your TV screen. Press the corresponding coloured buttons (Red, Green, Yellow, Blue) to access the most up to date news and information. To exit the Interactive Services, you can either press the [TEXT] button or change the channel.
Menu Operation 7.1. Main Menu Press the [MENU] button to access the receiver’s Main Menu which will allow you to access the Set-up, Channel Edit and Technical menus. To exit the Main Menu press the [MENU] button again and you will return to TV. 7.2.
7.3. Channel Edit You can arrange, edit and set channels as your favourites as shown in the images below: Simply press the [RED] key to select channel(s) or Select All by pressing the [GREEN] button you want to modify. Then press the coloured button representing the function you want to perform.
7.3.2. Parental You will also find the Parental menu in the Channel Edit screen. You can change the PIN and security level, and lock/unlock services in this menu. Simply press the [RED] key to toggle the lock status of a channel or toggle all by pressing the [GREEN] button.
7.4. Technical In the Technical sub-menu you will find the following functions: • System • Broadcast Info • Retune 7.4.1. System Information The System Information displays the box software release version, date and ID. Broadcast Information The first Screen displays the networks available and their transports, with their services.
The above function is mainly used to provide additional information for diagnostic purposes for advanced users or installers. 7.4.2. Retune Use this function should you wish to reset your receiver to factory settings. Note: All services, Favourites and any other user settings will be lost after confirming by pressing the OK button.
7.4.3. Software Upgrades Periodically software downloads will be available. You will be notified of these when you exit standby. Downloads can be compulsory or optional. After selecting OK to proceed, a progress message is displayed while software is being downloaded. During the update, the red LED light will continuously blink.
