PREPARING YOUR SLOW COOKER

BEFORE FIRST USE:
Before using your Kenmore 7-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker, remove any labels,
stickers or tags that may be attached to the appliance. Clean the appliance thoroughly.
1. Wash the glass lid and the ceramic pot in hot, soapy water.
2. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
3. DO NOT immerse metal housing in water.
4. Place Slow Cooker on a dry, flat, level surface such as a
countertop or table.
When turned on for the first time, your new slow cooker may emit an odor for up to
10 minutes. This is due to the initial heating of the materials used in making the slow
cooker. The odor is safe and should not reoccur after initial heating.

OPERATING THE SLOW COOKER

1. Prepare your recipe according to directions.
2. Place prepared food into the removable ceramic pot and cover with the glass lid.
Plug the power cord into a standard 120-V, 60Hz AC-only electrical outlet. You will hear one
long beep and the display screen lights up. It will display P-On for one second and then
change to show the initial STAND-BY status and the default heat setting of HIGH.
To set the timer, press the increase (up) arrow. The time will increase in 30-minute
increments. Select the desired cooking time for the recipe you are using. The time can
be changed by pressing the up or down arrows.
The slow cooker is set at the default heat setting of HIGH. To select a different cooking
temperature, press the setting button for MEDIUM, LOW, KEEP WARM, or back to HIGH.
Once you have selected the correct time and heat settings, push the Start button to begin
cooking. The green LED Power light illuminates to show the cooker is cooking. The timer
will now start counting the time down to "0" (zero).
When the set cooking time has expired, the unit will beep once and then go into Stand-By
mode for 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes have passed, the Cooker will automatically go into
Keep Warm mode for 6 hours and then it will automatically turn Off.
To stop the cooking process at any time during the operation, press the STOP button and
the unit will go back into Stand-By mode immediately and the Power light will go out.
The timer will be cleared. To restart the cooking process, you must reset the timer.
For use without the timer, set heat control and turn unit ON. Cooker will work in a manual
mode, without the timer, for a maximum of 24 hours. If cooker is not turned OFF within
24 hours, it will beep once and go into Stand-By mode for 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes
have passed it will automatically go into Keep Warm mode for 6 hours then shut Off.
