About This Manual
General Guide
• Press C to change from mode to mode.
• In any mode, press L to illuminate the display for about one second.
• Whenever there are too many characters to fi t within the upper or lower display area,
the characters will scroll automatically from right to left.
Timekeeping
Use the Timekeeping Mode to set and view the current time and date.
• You can select from among four different date (day of the week, year, month, day)
formats for the upper and lower parts of the display.
• The calendar format for the upper display area depends on the currently selected
display format for the lower display area. Pressing B will cycle through the available
calendar formats as described below.
Example: Tuesday, June 30, 2009
When the date format (lower display
area) is one of these settings:
MMM.DD (JUN.30)
DD.MMM (30.JUN)
MM-DD (06-30)
DD-MM (30-06)
DDD DD (TUE 30)
DD DDD (30 TUE)
Pressing D in the Timekeeping Mode switches to the Custom Memo (1 and 2)
screen.
Important!
• Be sure to select your Home City (the site where you normally will use the watch)
and confi gure its current time and date settings before using the functions of this
watch.
To set the time and date

• Depending on the model of your watch, display text
appears either as dark fi gures on a light background or
light fi gures on a dark background. All sample displays
in this manual are shown using dark fi gures on a light
background.
• Button operations are indicated using the letters shown
in the illustration.
• Each section of this manual provides you with the
information you need to perform operations in each
mode. Further details and technical information can be
found in the "Reference" section.
Pressing B will cycle the calendar format
(upper display area) between these settings:
DDD 'YY (TUE '09) → 'YY DDD ('09 TUE) →
DDD (TUE) → YYYY (2009)
MMM 'YY (JUN '09) → 'YY MMM ('09 JUN) →
MMM (JUN) → YYYY (2009)
1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down A until the
seconds start to fl ash, which indicates the setting
screen.
2. Press C to move the fl ashing in the sequence shown
below to select other settings.
3. When the setting you want to change is fl ashing, use D and B to change it as
described below.
Screen
To do this:
Reset the seconds to 00
Toggle between Daylight Saving Time (ON)
and Standard Time (OFF)
Change the city code
Change the hour or minutes
Toggle between 12-hour (12H) and 24-hour
(24H) timekeeping
Change the year
Change the month or day
Change the calendar display.*
Confi gure the Flash Alert setting
Change the font.**
Adjust display contrast
* The following shows the available calendar display settings.

• See "Daylight Saving Time (DST)" for details about the DST setting.
4. Press A to exit the setting screen.
• Resetting the seconds to 00 while the current count is in the range of 30 to 59
causes the minutes to be increased by 1. In the range of 00 to 29, the seconds are
reset to 00 without changing the minutes.
• The day of the week is displayed automatically in accordance with the date (year,
month, and day) settings.
Daylight Saving Time (DST)
Daylight Saving Time (summer time) advances the time setting by one hour from
Standard Time. Remember that not all countries or even local areas use Daylight
Saving Time.
To toggle the Timekeeping Mode time between DST and Standard Time
1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold down A until the
seconds start to fl ash, which indicates the setting
screen.
2. Press C to display the DST setting screen.
3. Press D to toggle between Daylight Saving Time (ON
displayed) and Standard Time (OFF displayed).
4. Press A to exit the setting screen.
• The DST indicator appears on the display to indicate
that Daylight Saving Time is turned on.
Do this:
Press D .
Use D (east) and B (west).
Use D (+) and B (–).
Press D .
Use D (+) and B (–).
Use D and B .
