My leaf vacuum gives me shocks. Never been wet. I love it but it hurts. I bought a heavy duty cord but that didn't work.

The Portland Electric Blower Vacuum Mulcher may give electric shocks if it is used in wet conditions, handled with wet hands, or connected with improper extension cords. It must not be exposed to rain and should only be used with outdoor-rated extension cords to reduce the risk of electric shock.

This is the second time I used Portland 3 in 1 Mulcher. When I turn on the switch nothing happens. I checked my extension chord and it shows OK. But when I push the switch, nothing happened. Bu pushing the extension chord firmly , it came on, but after that never came back on. What could be wrong?
