Automatic locking

You can also set the situations in which the car
locks. The setting is stored for the remote con-
trol in use.
1.
Press the
button.
This opens the start menu.
2.
Move the MINI joystick to highlight "Setup"
and press the MINI joystick.
3.
Select "Settings".
4.
Select "Vehicle and tires".
5.
Select "Door locks".
6.
Select "Central locking".
7.
Select a menu item:
>
"Relock if not opened"
The central locking system automatically
locks the vehicle after a short time when
no door has been opened.
>
"Lock after driving"
The central locking system automatically
locks the vehicle as soon as you drive off.
The setting is selected.
The setting is stored for the remote control cur-
rently in use.
Tailgate
In order to avoid damage, make sure
there is sufficient clearance before open-
ing the
tailgate.<

Opening
Press the button in the handle, arrow, or the
button of the remote control, for an
extended period. The tailgate is unlocked and
can be opened.
In some national-market versions, the tail-
gate cannot be unlocked using the remote
control unless the vehicle is unlocked
Opening manually
In the event of an electrical malfunction.
1.
Fold the rear seat bench upward.
2.
Pull the ring.
The tailgate is released.
Closing
The handle recesses on the interior trim panel of
the tailgate make it easier to pull it down.
