The manually controlled ejection system and lack of static generated ensures accurate disc delivery. The Harris e-Core is a coring tool and not a punch. The Harris e-Core has been designed to utilize dedicated replaceable Harris Micro-Punch Tips. The razor sharp cutting edge on the Harris Micro- Punch Tip cleanly and precisely cores discs from substrates, all but eliminating the creation of artefacts and potential cross contamination between sampling.

2.4 International Multi-Plug Set The e-Core is provided with four international plug sets allowing worldwide use depending on your geographic location. With the e-core unplugged and the cover cap on the tip, make sure the Harris Micro-Punch tip is “finger tight” on the drive shaft of the e-Core by firmly holding the knurled surface of the drive shaft in the fingers of one hand and tightening the tip in a clockwise motion with the fingers of the other hand.
This is required as the card may spin when the Harris e-Core cutting tip makes contact with the card. Also there is a need to hold down the card when lifting the e-Core tip from the cored card, stripping the card off the tip.

1 – 1.5 seconds. Prolonged contact will put a strain on the motor and dull the tip faster. If the user finds it necessary to keep the Harris e-Core tip in contact with the FTA card longer than 1.5 seconds to cut a disc, than the tip is dull and must be replaced.
1.2mm Harris Micro-Punch Tip with the Harris e-Core 12. Do not use a 2.0 mm Harris Micro-Punch Tip on the Harris e-Core 12 and vice versa. Each Harris e-Core unit is sold with a plunger ejection rod with a specific outside diameter for use with a designated coring tip inside diameter. This ensures complete sample ejection and delivery.
With the Harris e-Core unplugged and with the protective cover cap in place over the Harris Micro-Punch Tip, remove the tip from the e-Core by gripping the knurled surface on the e-Core drive shaft to keep the shaft from rotating while unscrewing the tip.
