2. START‐UP / OPERATION Depress the Power button on the right side of the instrument to start operation. The main start up screen will display to allow you to select the menu option operation to perform. The touch‐screen icon options are detailed in the following paragraphs. 2.1 ACQUIRE ICON The Acquire icon allows the acquisition of data from an Ebtron Gold Series Transmitter equipped with an EB‐Link option card. The transmitter cover must be removed to permit IR communication with the EB‐Link Reader. When using the EB‐Link Reader, remember to point the device directly at the transmitter within 3.3 feet (1 meter) of it and hold it in that position until the ACQUIRE event is complete. Data acquisition typically occurs in a few seconds. To acquire data: a. Point the EB‐Link Reader at the transmitter at a distance of < 3.3 feet (1 meter). b. Touch Acquire screen icon. Keep EB‐Link Reader pointed at transmitter. Screen will indicate “Searching for GTx116”, and then “Eb‐Link Established. Acquiring Data.” This is followed by “Success. Data Acquired.” before summary measurement data is displayed. Selecting the TRAV screen icon allows individual probe and sensor flows and temperatures to be displayed. Selecting the SAVE screen icon allows the current data to be saved. The SAVE option is only visible if the data has not already been saved. 2.2 FILE ICON Select the File icon to access and manage the files stored within the device. From the File menu you can open or delete individual files. Refer to the EB‐LINK READER SOFTWARE QUICK START GUIDE for file management options available when using the EB‐Link Reader, Software, USB cable and a computer. 2.3 SETTINGS ICON Selecting the Settings icon permits changing the EB‐Link Reader date, time, Auto Power‐Save screen time out delay, and temperature averaging method settings. 2.4 HELP ICON Selecting the Help icon displays EB‐Link Reader help information. 2.5 AUTO POWER SAVE The EB‐Link Reader will enter a Power‐Save mode that disables the display after 30 seconds of inactivity. In the Power‐Save mode, battery life is greater than 6 months. All settings and stored data will be retained. INSTALLING EB‐LINK READER SOFTWARE 3.1 Download EB‐Link Reader Application Software at www.ebtron.com/support_downloads.htm. 3.2 With PC running Microsoft Windows XP operating system (or later), connect the USB cable to the PC and to EB‐Link Reader. You may be presented with the following screen to begin CDC driver installation. 4. USING THE EB‐LINK READER SOFTWARE 4.1 Connect USB Cables With your PC turned ON, connect the USB cable provided between the PC and the EB‐Link Reader. 4.2 Launch IR_App.exe Navigate to the folder where you have downloaded the EB‐Link Reader Application files, and then locate the file IR_App.exe. Double‐click the file (or select run). The application will start, locate and connect to the EB‐Link Reader and then list the data set files that have been stored on it. 4.3 View a File A single click on any of the listed files will allow you to view the data. 4.4 Right‐click File Options Right click on any file to Rename, Delete or Refresh the data. 4.5 Refresh Data Single click on the Refresh Data icon to re‐scan the EB Link Reader files. 4.6 Sync Time Single click on the Sync Time icon to set the time on the EB‐Link Reader to be synchronized with the current time of the connected PC. 4.7 Export to Excel Click the Export All to Excel icon to launch Microsoft Excel application and export all of the data to a new spreadsheet. 4.8 Delete All Files (use with Caution!) Click the Delete All icon to delete all data sets stored in the EB‐Link Reader.
