Reset the LM3000 (using pointed device to press the RESET
button at the front panel). The LM3000 should now recognize the
attached LS3000s. The banner message box on the top of all
the LS3000 monitors should show Control Status as Present.
5b. LM3000E Series Installation & IP Setup
Make sure that power for all equipment is off before making
connections.
Making connections while power is on may cause
damage.
1
The LM3000E Ethernet port has to be connected to the server
computer via an Ethernet hub.
2
The LM3000E is then connected to the network of LS3000 I/O
units via RS485 cable loop. The connections must be in a loop
form with Cat 5 cables. (See Figure 2)
3
Connect at least one I/O unit (with VGA display connected) to the
LM3000E and connect the LM3000E/LM3008E to the Ethernet
LAN (as shown in Figure 2). Power on the I/O unit. At power on
of LM3000E, the current IP address and port number are shown
on the I/O unit VGA display.
4
Record the original PC IP address. Then set the computer's IP
address to same IP group (that is, the first 3 octet numbers has
to match exactly) as the LM3000E current IP shown on the
LS3000 VGA screen. Refer to the procedures outlined in the
operating systems' manual for setting the computer's IP address.
5
Run Telnet program on the server PC with connection to LAN.
(For Windows, under command prompt, enter "Telnet <IP
address>" where <IP address> is the current IP of the LM3000E
displayed on the LS3000VGA screen).
6
Enter command "1" with new IP address as parameter to enter
new IP address for the unit.
192.168.100.10" to change IP to "192.168.100.10". (Note: set IP
address to same original IP group in your network. You may
need to check with network administrator for a free IP address).
7
Check that the "Current Configuration" shows the required IP
address. If necessary, change IP again with command "1". Then,
enter command "4" to save settings. To cancel the IP changes
made in this session, enter command "0" to quit without save.
8
Set the server PC back to original network IP address recorded
down in step 2.
After IP address has been changed, the LM3000E will run with the
new IP address automatically. The new IP address will be shown on
the I/O unit VGA display.
Remark:
If Telnet shows double characters when typing in commands &
parameters, it's due to local echo being set to on. To eliminate the
double characters, set local echo to off. (Enter "Telnet" in command
prompt to start Telnet and enter command "unset local_echo" for
Windows 2000 or "unset localecho" for Windows XP. Enter "quit"
to exit Telnet.)

connections must be in a loop form.
6. LEDs on Front Panel (LM3008,
LM3008E, LM3016, LM3016E only)
The 8 LEDs on front panel of LM3008E indicates status of I/O
units from address 0 to 7. If more than 8 stations are needed,
model LM3016E is available with 16 LEDs. When the LED is off,
the corresponding I/O unit is off-line. When the LED is on or
blinking, the corresponding I/O unit is on-line. Check the I/O unit
connections if any active LS3000 is not shown with correct LED
status. One or more LEDs blinking indicates a cable break or
loose connection. While the system still works with all on-line
stations under this single cable fault condition, the blinking
LEDs alert you to a cable connection failure that has to be
remedied.
The location of the cable break can be easily
identified. The group of blinking LEDs shows that this segment of
network is disconnected from the rest of the network segment with
steadily ON LEDs.
