PROCEDURE
1. RADIO POLARITY
-
WHEN SER-
VICING THIS RECEIVER, THE "A"
s u r e s a good low r e s i s t a n c e r e t u r n
path. Two s e p a r a t e and independent
paths a r e provided to ground.
1. A defective
in-warranty radio
must be accompanied by the Custom-
e r ' s Warranty Policy Tag.
This tag
must be properly filled in by the
American Motors d e a l e r a t the time
of radio purchase. Accept a s war-
ranty r e p a i r s only those radios with-
in the 12-month warranty period.
The removal o r re-installation of
this r e c e i v e r i s customarily p e r -
formed by the American Motors
dealer and i s not covered by this
warranty.
Also, the removal of
motor noise, t i r e static, e l e c t r i c a l
interference,
faulty installations,
and a e r i a l r e p a i r s a r e not consider-
ed a s warranty r e p a i r s ; and t h e r e -
fore, expenses related to such s e r -
.vices should' be handled by the c a r
dealer.
LEAD MUST BE CONNECTED TO
THE POSITIVE SIDE O F POWER
SOURCE. I F CONNECTED OTHER-
WISE, RECEIVER .WILL NOT OP-
ERATE AND DAMAGE TO COM-
PONENTS MAY RESULT.
4. TO SERVICE PLATED CHASSIS
BOARD
-
To remove the plated
c h a s s i s f r o m the radio housing, un-
solder the plated c h a s s i s ground
wire f r o m c h a s s i s housing. Release
the
c h a s s i s board locking spring
and carefully lift c h a s s i s board out
of housing.
Position the chassis
board
vertically
with
respect to
radio housing f o r servicing.
2. POWER
SUPPLY
REQUIRE-
MENTS
-
It i s preferable to u s e a
storage battery (without a battery
c h a r g e r ) in place of a battery elim-
inator.
If a battery eliminator i s
used, i t m u s t be well filtered and
regulated.
After servicing i s performed, r e -
install plated c h a s s i s board. Make
certain c h a s s i s board i s properly
placed i n the grooves of the chassis
retaining
b r a c k e t s
and locked i n
position with the c h a s s i s boardlock-
ing spring. Re- solder ground lead.
3. PLATED CHASSIS BOARD DES-
CRIPTION
-
Motorola' s

chassis has plating on both sides o_f
the chassis board. The exposed side
contains the actual circuit connec-
tions while the plating on the com-
ponent side of the c h a s s i s board
provides a convenient chassis B-
r e t u r n f o r components and circuit
wiring.
