RUNNING IN
Although a running in period is not required, AktiMate
some use. We therefore recommend that you play between 24 and 36 hours of music before doing
any critical listening. You'll be surprised at the result!
CLEANING
We wouldn't recommend the use of any commercial solvents or household cleaners. All you need to
do is to wipe them over with a soft, dry cloth.
CONTROLS
The active speaker features a volume control knob on the lower right hand side of the front of the
speaker and an infrared sensor on the lower left, which also contains 2 indicator LED's.
STANDBY
To start playing the AktiMate
pressing the volume knob once. This will turn the orange LED off. To stop an iPod playing at a
precise point and cut the sound, press the knob once again.

VOLUME
To operate the volume, rotate the knob right or left to increase or decrease the level. The blue LED in
the window will flash when the volume level is changing. There are 30 level steps from 0 to
maximum.
REMOTE CONTROL HANDSET
It is possible to put the system into Standby or wake it up by pressing the power
button (top left side) on the remote control. The blue LED will light when On and
orange will light when in Standby.
The remote control handset allows basic functions for your iPod - i.e. menu,
enter, forward/back, shuffle, repeat, play and pause.
The volume control buttons on the bottom right and left of the handset control the
volume level of all inputs and iPod. The blue LED will flash to show when the
volume is changing from 0 to 30.
Pressing the Mute button on the top right will cut the sound from all inputs and a
red LED will light. When muted, the source will continue to play but will not be
heard.
iPod CONNECTION
The iPod connection is an integral part of the loudspeaker system.
Carefully plug your iPod into the docking station on the top of the speaker, using the appropriate
adaptor to suit your iPod body. The docking station will accept most types of iPod. A range of
adaptors can be found in the accessory pack provided.
Choose the music you wish to listen to and operate the volume control either on the front of the
speaker or by using the handheld remote.
AIRPORT EXPRESS
It is possible to link an Airport Express to your Aktimate
Express receiver to the mains socket and then run a cable from the receiver to the 3.5mm jack plug
socket on the rear of the speaker.
MP3 CONNECTION
Any make of MP3 or MP4 player can be connected, simply by using the 3.5mm jack plug input on the
rear panel.
USB
Your Aktimate
speakers have a USB connector on the rear panel. This can be used for charging

an iPod or MP3 player. Simply connect the USB cable to the iPod or MP3 player, making sure the
speaker is switched-on! The USB connection is not designed to connect to a computer.
