    English TARGA TM-2100 Cables Always hold cables by the plug and never pull on the cable itself. Never hold the power cord with wet hands as this may cause a short circuit or electric shock. Never place the device, heavy objects or furniture on the cable and take care that the cord does not become trapped, especially at the plug and sockets.

    Overview Jacks and Controls Your TARGA TM-2100 mixing console has multiple connector jacks for the different sound sources (e.g. microphone, standard Line-Out output devices, stereo synthesiz- ers, etc.) that you can comfortably mix and output via the stereo out jacks.
  • Page 10 English TARGA TM-2100 4 TAPE IN (L, R) input jacks These unbalanced Cinch inputs (also termed RCA jacks) serve to connect stereo sound sources such as tape decks, CD players, etc. You can then adjust the signal level of the connected sound sources via the TAPE control (30) of the master control panel and listen to the mixing console.
  • Page 11 IMPORTANT: The plug must be secured into the jack. To do this, first plug in and gently turn the outside metal ring clockwise till tight. WARNING: When operating your TARGA TM-2100 mixing console, use only the sup- plied adapter, and never use the adapter to feed other devices.

    In the following section you will learn how to unpack, connect and operate your TARGA TM-2100. At the end of the manual you will find helpful tips on mixing and adjusting signals. Installation Location Before you connect your mixing console, you should select a suitable location.

    TARGA TM-2100 English Connecting Audio Devices After you have unpacked your device and located it in a suitable position, you can con- nect your audio devices. In the following figure you will find an example of which de- vices you can connect to the various jacks. The vast number of jacks however permits so many connection possibilities that we are unable to go into detail on all the different versions.

    TARGA TM-2100 English Mixing and Processing the Audio Signals You can comfortably process the signals of the various sound sources with the help of the numerous controls on the mixing console. At first sight, so many potentiometers can look a little daunting. Luckily however there are only 6 or 7 different controls that are repeated for the various channels.
  • Page 16 English TARGA TM-2100 17 Switch for High-Pass Filter This switch allows you to toggle the high-pass filter on or off. Frequencies under 75 Hz are cut. Note: There is no high-pass filter when using stereo LINE inputs (regardless of the switch setting).

    The switch can however be switched on without problem when you, for example, con- nect balanced dynamic microphones. To avoid damage to loudspeakers, switch all amplifiers (or powered speakers) off before turning this switch on or off. 25 POWER indicator This indicator lights up when your TARGA TM-2100 mixing console is powered on.

    English TARGA TM-2100 26 Level indicators By means of these indicators you can control the signal level fed to the Stereo bus. The "0" value corresponds to a normal output level. The indicator lights red when the signal level has reached or exceeded the maximum clipping level. From this level the sound signal can be distorted.

    Alternatively you can use the recording possibilities of the computer to compile radio plays, remixes etc. with your TARGA TM-2100. If your sound source has a LINE standard output (if necessary read the manual of the corresponding device), connect this using a stereo cable with a phone jack to one of the LINE jacks (11) on the mixing console.
  • Page 20 English TARGA TM-2100 Simple Recording Studio For this you can connect all microphones to the mic inputs and the instruments to the Mono (e.g. E-guitar) or Stereo phone jacks (e.g. synthesizer). Connect the recording device (e.g. DAT) to the REC OUT stereo output (5).
  • Page 21 TARGA TM-2100 English Simple Concert / DJ Configuration This setting is very similar to the previous one. For output, however, you connect the mixing console to an amplifier and not to a recording device. As a DJ you simply replace the stereo instrument for a tape deck, CD player or similar device.

    TARGA TM-2100 Troubleshooting With the numerous connector jacks and controls of the TARGA TM-2100 it is not easy for a newcomer who may even find themselves lost in the jumble of cables. Read the following section and if necessary the relevant section on connectors or operation of the controls again, and try to solve any problems with these basic solution ideas.
