When performing live, the “perfect mix” lets you hear what the audience hears. Connect an ambient microphone to a Mix Back input (located near the band front line) so the talent can hear the audience. Locating the mic far away adds an unnatural delay. Sound travels at roughly one foot per millisecond, so a mic placed 100 feet into the audience has a 100 mSec delay.
