TECHNICAL PROBLEMS

UNABLE TO MAKE CALLS FROM SATELLITE PHONE
Make sure the power is on.
Make sure the SIM card is inserted correctly
Check the antenna. The antenna needs to be fully extended, and calls need to be made in clear line of sight to the sky – you
should be outdoors.
Check the signal strength meter. If signal is weak, move to an open space with clear line of sight to the sky. Force
registration can be done via the phone by pressing the up arrow key, then pressing the '8' key. This will manually register the
Kyocera Iridium phone with the satellite system.
Make sure there is no error message. If there is, refer to the user's manual.
UNABLE TO RECEIVE CALLS TO SATELLITE PHONE
Verify all of the above.
Check the ringer. Verify that the ringer is not turned off. Press menu key, then arrow over to 'Phone set-up'. Press 'ok'.
Press menu key again, to 'Adjust Ring Volume', then press 'ok'. Press up arrow to increase, and down arrow to decrease
volume.
Verify that 'forward all calls' is not selected.
SERVICE LIGHT INDICATORS
Alternating red and green – A call is incoming.
Flashing green – You are receiving a signal from the satellite, and can place and receive calls.
Flashing yellow and red – Your phone was not successful in registering with the satellite and cannot receive any incoming
calls OR your SIM card may not be inserted correctly, or you may be in a restricted area (currently: Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya,
Serbia, Sudan, and North Korea).
Flashing red – service is not available.
DISPLAY MESSAGES
Searching – The phone is attempting to establish connection to the satellite network.
Registering – Your phone is registering with the network. When the process is complete, you will see 'Registered'.
Enter Phone Unlock Code – You phone was locked after the last use. Enter your four-digit unlock code (default 1234) and
press 'ok'.
Enter PIN – Enter the four-to-eight SIM card PIN. The default PIN is 1111.
Enter PUC or BLOCKED – If you enter the PIN incorrectly three times in a row you will be required to enter your Pin
Unlocking Key (PUC). You will need to contact WCC for the PUC code.
Insert Card – Power off your phone; make sure your SIM card is inserted completely; then power your phone on again.
Check Card – This message indicates that the SIM card is damaged or inserted incorrectly.
Blocked, Contact your supplier – User has entered the PIN incorrectly three times, and then proceeded to enter the PUK
incorrectly 10 times. The SIM has been disabled and cannot be reactivated.
Access Denied... Unregistered SIM – The first error message displays 'Access Denied', the second and subsequent error
message displays 'Unregistered SIM'. This error message indicated the service to the IRIDIUM handset has been denied.
