    Remote Control The remote control provides easy access to all of the receiver’s functions, including selecting channels and using the menus. It uses infrared signals, and must be operated within seven meters from the receiver. When using the remote control, make sure there is a direct line of sight to the receiver.

    Switching on for the First Time Your HD8000UPVR needs to be tuned to channels in your region. When it is connected and switched on for the first time the HD8000UPVR will start in Quick Scan mode. Turn on your TV set.

    Viewing Channels Use the Channel keys or enter the channel number on the remote control to change channels. The Information Plate (or I-Plate) The I-Plate appears at the bottom of the screen whenever a channel is changed or when called up by pressing INFO. The I-Plate displays information about the channel and the current TV programme.

    Viewing Teletext Subtitles Some channels carry Teletext (TTX) and with it some programmes may have Teletext subtitles. • Press TTX and enter 801 to view the Teletext subtitles page. • To adjust the Teletext subtitles background, press TTX. Press TTX again to clear the Teletext screen.

    EPG: Electronic Programme Guide This HD8000UPVR comes with a native 8-day Electronic Programme Guide (EPG). Never miss your favourite TV programmes; simply select upcoming TV programmes and add them to the Record Schedule list. When the time is near the receiver will switch to the scheduled channel and start recording to the USB Storage Drive.

    Recording TV Programmes The HD8000UPVR can record television programmes onto a USB mass storage drive. The storage drive must be formatted before it can be used to store recorded content. For this reason Uniden recommends using a dedicated USB mass storage drive for recording and playback of TV programmes.

    Scheduled Recording You can record in two ways; • One-touch recording (OTR) • Scheduled Recording Scheduled Recording allows you to schedule up to 16 programmes in advance with each recording lasting up to 6 hours. To access the Record Schedule Menu press MENU then select “Record Schedule” from the “Channels”...

The HD8000UPVR will start recording the scheduled programme when the allotted time comes.

    OTR (One Touch Recording) OTR is a special feature of the HD8000UPVR, making the recording function easy to use with a single press of REC on the remote control. • Starting OTR Record: When you wish to start a recording, while watching TV, just press REC. The recording window will momentarily display to indicate recording has started.

    Settings Parental Rating: Allows you to set a parental rating for a channel to prevent your children from viewing sensitive channels. Once you set the parental rating for the particular channel, the parental rating transmitted with the channel will verify if the received rating is higher than the parental lock rating.

    Setup Note: The default PIN code of this receiver is 0000. Auto Scan: On the “Setup” menu, highlight “Auto Scan” and press ENTER to start channel search. Once a digital TV/Radio channel is found, the channel number and the programme name will be displayed.

Input the Channel No. and Frequency, and select Start Scan to scan a specific channel. “Scan Complete” shows after scanning is finished. Note: These parameters vary between different regions.
