Chapter 1 Overview About the Server Management Board The Server Management Board (SMB) is a circuit board used to monitor and control an NCR WorldMark 4300 server. It can be installed in both the rack-mount server and the deskside server.
  • Page 12: Components

The SMB has the following components: • Flash circuitry used to reprogram the SMB firmware. • Interface circuitry to the NCR WorldMark 4300’s I C control buses and RS232 communications port. • Either an internal modem or an RS232 connector to be used with an external modem.
  • Page 13: Monitored/Controlled Attributes

In addition to the monitoring and controlling of the NCR WorldMark 4300 server, the user can monitor and control the SMB itself. Most attributes can be monitored or controlled in-band; however, there are limited attributes that can be monitored or controlled while out-of-band.
