Electronic immobiliser

The system checks whether the vehicle has
permission to start with the key used. If the
transponder in the key is recognised as
authorised, starting is permitted.
The electronic immobiliser activates itself
automatically after the key has been
removed from the ignition or, with the
Open&Start system 3, when the engine
is switched off by pressing the Start/Stop
button.

Control indicator for immobilizer A
After the ignition is switched on, control
indicator A illuminates briefly.
If the control indicator flashes when the
ignition is on, there is a fault; the engine
cannot be started. Switch off the ignition
and then repeat the start attempt.
If the control indicator A continues to
flash, try to start the engine using the
second key and contact a workshop
for assistance.

If the control indicator A comes on after
the engine has been started there is a fault
in the engine electronics or the transmission
electronics 3 3 176, 3 182, 3 187, 3 195 or
there is water in the diesel fuel filter 3 3 287.
Note
The immobiliser does not lock the doors.
Therefore, after leaving the vehicle always
lock it and switch on the anti-theft alarm
system 3 3 38, 3 44.
