Removing the Battery Turn the camera off and make sure that the power-on lamp and monitor have turned off, and then open the battery- chamber/memory card slot cover. Move the battery latch in the direction indicated by the arrow ( 1 ) to eject the battery ( 2 ).

    Preparation 2 Charge the Battery Prepare the included Charging AC Adapter. • If a plug adapter* is included with your camera, attach the plug adapter to the plug on the Charging AC Adapter. Push the plug adapter firmly until it is securely held in place. Once the two are connected, attempting to forcibly remove the plug adapter could damage the product.

About 2 hours and 50 minutes are required to charge a fully exhausted battery. • The ambient temperature is not suited to charging. Be Careful to Insert the Memory Card in Correct Direction Inserting the memory card upside down or backwards could damage the camera and memory card.

    Formatting a Memory Card The first time you insert a memory card that has been used in another device into this camera, make sure to format it with this camera. Insert the memory card into the camera, press the d button, and select Format card in the setup menu.

    Preparation 4 Setting the Display Language, Date, and Time When the camera is turned on for the first time, the language-selection screen and the date and time setting screen for the camera clock are displayed. • If you exit without setting the date and time, O will flash when the shooting screen is displayed.
