The first digital recording manual
1. Setting up to get started (DR-1 User's Guide: pp. 17-24)
First, insert a CF card (available for purchase) into the card slot, plug in a microphone, and a
headphone (available for purchase) and the power adaptor into the respective terminal of DR-1, and
press the 1) Power button to turn on DR-1. After power is on, as the "date and time setting"
panel is lighted up, please set date and time by following the instruction in p. 24 of the DR-1 User's
Guide.
(NOTE: CF card, microphone, headphone and the USB cable are NOT included in the DR-1
package.

2. Recording (DR-1 User's Guide: pp. 28-30)
1. Hold down 2) Function key

2. "End" is displayed in the phrase window. (If you insert a blank CF card, the display panel shows

"Recording" lamp flashes.
4. Adjust the recording volume with 10) Recoding volume slider while looking at the level meter.
Adjust the maximum volume to be –8dB.
5. Press 6) Rec./ Pause key
Once the recording starts, "Recording" lamp lights up.

6. To pause recording, press 6) Rec./ Pause key
7. To stop the recording, press 8) Play / stop key

Note: Should go through pause recording, before stop recording.
3. Playback (DR-1 User's Guide: p. 31)
1. Press either 7) Rew. key
Once moving to the heading, DR-1 automatically stops after playing one phrase.
2. Press 8) Play / Stop key

4. Overwrite recording [ Rerecord the previous recording error ] (User's Guide: p. 41)
1. When you made a reading mistake as Example 1, press 6) Rec. / Pause key
recording to overwrite the mistakenly read phrase.
(Note: If you press 8) Play / Stop key at this time, overwrite recording cannot be performed.)
2. Press 7) Rew. Key
3. Press 6) Rec. / Pause key
"The Prince invited all maidens to a ball, and Cinderella's two Stepsisters were invited to the ball."
The reread audio will be overwritten.
