Adjusting the output level on your guitar or utilizing a volume pedal between your guitar and the input jack of your Mod6G controls the amount of signal that enters the first 6SL7 preamp gain stage. The Gain control on your Mod6G controls the amount of signal that enters the second 6SL7 preamp gain stage as well as the amount that enters the 6V6 power gain stage.

Volume Ch 1: Adjusting the level on this knob effects the amount of speaker driving signal power exiting the Channel 1 speaker cable connector on the back of your Mod6G amplifier. This control, whose input is parallel to the Volume Ch 2 control, allows for leveling control when using different speaker loads and/or speaker cabinets with different sensitivities per channel.
