Additional Options
Panda Time Group works with major clients to develop custom configurations. This
page provides additional information about any available options on your Pandroid.
Connecting to a 3G Network
Mobile telephone vendors offer a 3G Broadband service, either as an additional
option as part of a 'Pay Monthly' or 'Pay as you go' service, or through the sale of
other Broadband access packages. These require a USB dongle which contains a
mobile phone SIM card. We can pre-configure the Pandroid at the factory to accept
dongles from most service providers. The unit as shipped has been configured to
work with the Vodafone Network, using their Huawei E220 USB Modem, once a
Vodafone Sim Card is inserted and activated. See the separate user guide.
Before you can use 3G you have to (a) disconnect from Wi-Fi (b) insert your USB
Modem (c) key the Pandroid to your USB modem and (d) key the USB modem to the
Vodafone network in the country that issued the SIM card. This includes agreeing
contract terms directly with Vodafone, including a commitment to pay 'roaming
charges' for connections made outside the area where the SIM card was issued.
You enter into any such contract at your own risk. Panda Time Group cannot accept
responsibility for any charges that you incur. To proceed, please follow these steps:
(1) Insert your SIM card into the modem as shown in the User Guide
(2) Insert the Pandroid Mini-USB to USB adaptor
(3) Connect the USB modem to the adaptor socket
(4) Touch the arrow to the right of the desktop and then the NC Manager icon
(5) Touch Disconnect against WiFi Network and then Connect Wireless 3G
(6) Return to the Pandroid desktop and touch Settings and then Wireless
Controls, then Mobile Networks. Choose whether or not to check the Data
Roaming and Use only 2G network options
(7) Touch Search Networks and then choose the correct operator name and
country from the list displayed, e.g. VODAFONE UK LTD
(8) Touch Select Automatically. The Pandroid should connect to your chosen 3G
network, and will remain connected until the signal is lost, your Broadband minutes
run out or you opt to disconnect (NC Manager > Disconnect Wireless 3G)
TIP: When you've finished surfing you may want to 'Disconnect'
to avoid
accidentally incurring charges as other people send you email or instant messages.
