Description
The Electro-Voice N/D767, part of a new
generation of N/DYM
®
microphones, is de-
signed for live performance or studio vocal
recording. The N/D767 has been manufac-
tured with refinements which enhance the
sonic smoothness, improve gain-before-feed-
back and provide consistent performance
with greater durability than earlier genera-
®
tions of N/DYM
microphones. EV's mi-
crophone designers fashioned into the
N/D767 a smooth, extended frequency re-
sponse with a gentle rise in the mid-frequen-
cies for the optimum vocal clarity found in
studio- quality microphones. The N/D767
also features an outstanding neodymium-
iron-boron magnetic structure that provides
greater sensitivity and exceptional signal-to-
noise ratio for improved recording quality.
These features make the N/D767 the micro-
phone of choice for the discriminating vo-
calist who demands a product that delivers
studio-quality performance with a warm
richness that enhances the voice.
The N/D767 features a user selectable roll-
off switch, providing a choice between an
extended bass response (for warm, close-up
vocals) and reduced low frequencies (to
minimize "boominess"). A highly effective
hum-bucking coil is also used to cancel hum
interference from lighting and other power
sources.
®
N/DYM
microphones feature EV's
AcoustiDYM™ shock-mount system. This
unique vibration isolating system works as
a multistage device. At low frequencies, a
rear sound wave cancels the diaphragm
motion while, at high frequencies, the spe-
cially designed rubber shock mount iso-
lates the transducer from motion. Com-
bining AcoustiDYM™ with the elasto-
meric Warm-Grip™ handle and the
windscreen bumper produces an advanced
technology, vibration isolating system
which dramatically reduces all forms of
handling noise for the most demanding
situations.
The N/D767 has a supercardioid polar pat-
tern which is unusually uniform with fre-
quency, ensuring superior gain-before-feed-
back in live applications and provides su-
perb acoustic isolation.
The N/D767 pop filter's unique design uti-
lizes a specially processed Acoustifoam
ter to minimize wind noise and vocal P–pops.
This design makes the pop filter an integral
part of the microphone's removable front
grille assembly, allowing easy cleaning for
continued top performance.

vocalists
• Ideal for both live performance and in
the recording studio
• Switchable bass roll-off filter for
maximum vocal clarity
• Large diaphragm N/DYM
for condenser-like sensitivity and
frequency response
• Superior multistage shock mount for
unmatched low handling noise
Operation
The N/D767's low-frequency response var-
ies with the distance of the sound source to
the microphone. This is known as "proxim-
ity effect." Maximum bass response is pro-
duced in close-up use with the microphone
1/4 inch from the sound source. The
N/D767 features a switchable roll-off filter
whose response is tailored to restrain this
bass boost effect if desired. Minimal bass
response is experienced at distances greater
than 24 inches. Closer working distances, in
addition to the N/D767's supercardioid po-
lar pattern, reduce the risk of sound-system
feedback while preserving intelligibility.
By working closer to the microphone, the
human voice will sound more robust. How-
ever, the significant bass boost provides an
increase in overall microphone output level.
The mixer gain may be proportionately re-
duced, resulting in a reduction of the system's
sensitivity to feedback caused by sound en-
tering the microphone from the distant loud-
speakers.
