SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

THIS DEVICE FOR INDOOR USE ONLY
cAUtiON
RISK OF ELECTRICAL SHOCK, DO NOT OPEN UNIT.
wARNiNG: Always turn the unit "OFF" and unplug the unit when servicing or replacing the filter or UVGI emitter.
wARNiNG: To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not expose this device to rain or moisture.
cAUtiON: This device has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other) as a safety feature to reduce the
risk of electric shock. This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the
outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use an extension
cord unless the plug can be fully inserted. Do not alter the plug.
cAUtiON: If housing, base plate or any part of this device is damaged, cracked or broken, discontinue use immediately. This device
contains a UVGI emitter within the housing.
cAUtiON: Never operate this device without its filter. The filter cleans the air and also prevents dust from building
up on the UV-C generator.
RG-3 wARNiNG: UVGI emitted from this lamp. Skin or eye irritation could result. Avoid or minimize exposure
of eyes and skin to unshielded lamp.
BEFORE OPERATINg ThE MOdEL 1200 AIR PURIFIER ANd STERILIzER
OpeRAtiON: When the switch is turned ON, a soft flow of air will be processed through
the unit. The airflow is over 20 times more air than the average adult will inhale while
at rest. It is apparent that the closer the unit is placed to a person's "breathing space",
the greater the chances that the user will benefit from a reduced concentration of germs
in the air. This is the reason for the Model 1200's compact size for placement on a nightstand,
desk, end table or dresser.
The goal of the Model 1200 is not to process a large amount of air per hour as is
found in old-fashioned filter type air cleaners. Through careful compression of
the air flowing through the unit, common germs like influenza "A" and strep are
virtually wiped out while in the UVGI chamber. Surprisingly, a "roomful"
(12' x 12') of air would be sterilized in
about three hours by the compact
Model 1200. As a byproduct of this unit's
operation, the fan delivers a soothing "white
noise"which many people claim helps
them sleep more restfully.
FiLteR: From time to time (when the filter is visibly dirty, or every 2-3 months), you should clean the filter by first turning the unit OFF
and unplugging it from the wall outlet. Then rotate the latch on the bottom of the unit and remove the filter by hand or with tweezers.
The filter may be hand-cleaned with a simple water rinse, dry with a soft cloth or towel, and replace.
Never operate the device without its filter. The filter creates a charge which imparts
static on particles such as dust and pollen. This electrostatic process causes the
charged particles to cling to the filter's fibers. The filter also prevents dust and other
matter from building up within the UVGI chamber.
The Model 1200's method of electrostatic filtration is superior to so-called "electrostatic
precipitation" devices. These other units (often called ionizers) produce ozone which
is a known health hazard and can actually cause respiratory damage and other serious
complications. For more information on ozone, contact the EPA which allows zero
tolerance for ozone-producing devices where people will be present.
UVGI
UVGI
ViSibLe LiGht: The Model 1200 is designed to totally contain the UVGI energy
within its housing. That is, the UVGI energy, which is not visible to the human eye,
is absorbed by the housing itself and does not pass through to your living space.
This is similar to the way your windows absorb ultraviolet rays (UV-A and UV-B)
present in sunlight.
When the Model 1200 is operating, you will notice a faint glow on the front
side of the dome. This will only become visible in the dark when ambient light
has been eliminated. When you no longer can see this glow, the UVGI emitter has
reached the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced. The electrostatic filter will
continue to be effective.
RepLAciNG the UVGi eMitteR: Remember to turn the unit off and unplug it from the power source. Turn the unit upside down.
Remove the 4 screws, with Phillips drive screwdriver, that attach the metal plate to the base housing, set aside. Remove the metal bottom
plate, set aside. Remove the foam pad, set aside. Remove the UVGI emitter by pulling it out of the socket. Discard the used UVGI emitter.
Install the new UVGI emitter by plugging it into the socket. Make sure it is fully engaged. Set the metal bottom plate in position and re-at-
tach with the 4 screws.
4. remove old UVGI emitter, discard
5. install new UVGI emitter
6. re-install foam pad
7. re-install metal bottom
plate
8. re-install 4 screws,
hand tight (5 inch-lbs torgque).
Your SA1200 is ready for use again.
1. remove 4 screws, set aside
2. remove metal plate, set aside
3. remove foam pad, set aside
