The result is reduced distortion, coherent phase, a wider sound stage and improved imaging and accuracy. This diagram shows a typical home configuration, using the HDP-4. The CD player signal is preamplified, processed by the PDC, amplified and distributed to the speakers. The HDP-4 can provide dramatic performance improvements to a wide range of home stereo, home theatre and professional audio configurations.

The remote control supplied with the Express Mk2 and the HDP-4 controls a number of functions of the unit. Refer to the figure below.
DEQX HDP-4 Users Manual Volume
The Volume button adjusts the output volume of the unit in the same manner as the volume button on the unit’s front panel. In other words, each button press increments or decrements in 1dB steps from 0dB to above -24dB, then in 2dB steps above -36dB, then in 3dB steps above - 48dB, then in 6dB steps down to -120dB.

The EQ controls on the remote control allow the user to store and retrieve up to 100 EQ profiles, each consisting of up to three EQ settings. The EQ profiles are not the same as the four correction profiles (P1, P2, P3 and bypass) which can be stored on the unit.
Page 13
§ the P3 light will be brighter when the high control is active The DEQX unit has a total of 10 eq settings per correction profile. 3 of these are reserved for the remote control’s EQ controls and 7 are reserved for the parametric EQ accessible from the DEQX Cal software.

Speaker placement within a room can have a dramatic effect on the overall sound quality. If DEQX's parametric equalizer has been used to reduce room effects, it is important to leave the room and speakers configured as they were when the room measurement was made.
For example, if you have a stereo system consisting of two bi-amped speakers and a subwoofer, you would choose the Bi Amp DEQX speaker configuration for each of the bi- amped speakers and the Subwoofer configuration for the subwoofer. More details are given in the DEQX Installer’s Manual and online help.
Speakers with multiple drivers typically contain crossovers to distribute frequencies to the internal drivers. A speaker may offer the option of bypassing the internal crossover and using an external crossover such as the DEQX PDC or HDP3. This requires additional amplification channels. See Speaker wiring and amplifier connection, below.
In a single-wired configuration, a single cable connects the amplifier to the speaker. An internal crossover within the speaker filters the signal to distribute the appropriate frequencies to each driver. This corresponds to the DEQX Single Amp configuration. Bi-‐wired In a bi-wired configuration the speaker is connected to a single amplifier by two cables.
Bi-‐amplified
In a bi-amplified configuration two separate amplified channels are connected to the speaker by two separate cables. This corresponds to the DEQX Bi Amp configuration. Note that it is preferable that the speaker’s internal crossover be disconnected in this configuration.
For a description of the DEQX unit connectors see Rear panel on page 17. The table below shows the signal present at each DEQX unit rear panel connector in each possible configuration. Left channel outputs are numbered L1-L3 and right channel outputs R1- R3.
Page 25
The table below lists the configurations and shows the connections for each channel. When using multiple DEQX units for home cinema applications these connections may not be the correct and the actual loudspeaker connected to a channel will depend on the installation.
