  • Page 8 COVER HOW THE POCKET POWER@ WORKS This Pocket Power" is an electronic devicethat converts low voltage DC (direct current) electricity from a battery to 115 volt AC (alternating current) householdpower. In designingthis inverter, Power On Board has incorporateddesign techniques previously employed in computer power supplies.

T histypeof waveform is suitable for mostACloads,includinglinearandswitchingpowersuppliesusedin electronic equipment, transformers, a ndsmallmotors. Themodifiedsinewaveproduced bythis inverterhasan RMS(root meansquare) voltageof 115volts.MostACvoltmeters (bothdigitaland analog)aresensitive to theaverage valueof thewaveform ratherthan the RMSvalue.Theyarecalibrated for RMSvoltageunderthe assumption thatthewaveform measured will bea puresinewave.
