    1.3. First Steps / Quick Start The Merk II Portable Audio Codec/Mixer has a display and a keyboard on the front of the device. You can therefore set up a connection to another communication partner im- mediately as soon as you have unpacked such a device and connected it up to the mains and ISDN.

    Explorer. The remote control program automatically starts the COM interface after it is called up. If a Merk II is connected to one of the COM interfaces, the program recognizes the gateway and synchronizes itself with it automatically.

    3.1. Set Display Language The displays on the Merk II Audio Codec/Mixer can appear in various languages. On delivery the devices are set to English. This is why all the respective illustrations in this handbook show the display in English.

In addition the operator can give a Merk II an identification number consisting of numbers and letters (maximum 128 characters).

    FTP superimposes on the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). The MERK II has an FTP Server that permits file access to the MERK II Flashmemory. This way, firmware updates can be installed on the MERK IIs easily and securely.
