When you use the radio for the first time, it automatically scans for the strongest channel and receives all SAME alert signals broadcast within a radius of up to 50-mile (80-km).

    Frequent Asked Questions Frequent Asked Questions (FAQ) What are FIPS codes? Your weather alert radio can receive all SAME alert signals broadcast within a radius of up to 50-miles (80-km). To receive alerts about weather occurring only in particular counties within that area, you can program up to nine locations into your radio and the FIPS codes are automatically set into memory.

    Frequent Asked Questions How do I test my radio? The NWS broadcast test alerts every week on Wednesday between 11 AM and 1 PM. To find out the specific test schedule in your area, contact your local NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and, NWS.
