WORK AREA Keep work area clean, free of clutter and well lit. Cluttered and dark work areas can cause accidents. Do not use the chain saw where there is a risk of causing a fire or an explosion; e.g. in the presence of flammable liquids, gasses, or dust.
WARNING: Avoid “kickback” by knowing what conditions can create it. Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guide bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut. Tip contact in some cases may cause a lightning fast reverse reaction, kicking the guide bar up and back towards the operator.

CHAIN SAW USE AND CARE Do not rely exclusively upon the safety devices built into your chain saw. As a chain saw user, you should take several steps to keep your cutting free from accident or injury. With a basic understanding of kickback, you can reduce or eliminate the element of surprise. Sudden surprise contributes to accidents.
