Designed to provide all the excitement and detail of movie soundtracks and every nuance of musical selections, the AVR 5550 is truly a multichannel receiver for the new millennium. -

Safety Information Important Safety Information Verify Line Voltage Before Use Your AVR 5550 has been designed for use with 220-240-Volt AC current. Connection to a line voltage other than that for which it is intended can create a safety and fire hazard and may damage the unit. -

System Power Control: When the Main Power Switch is “ON, ” press this button to turn on the AVR 5550; press it again to turn the unit off (to Standby). Note that the Power Indicator surrounding the switch will turn green when the unit is on. - Page 6 RDS Select Button: Press this button to dis- play the various messages that are part of the RDS data system of the AVR 5550’s tuner. (See page 40 for more information on RDS). Delay Adjust Selector: Press this button to begin the process of adjusting the delay settings for Dolby surround modes.

A-BUS Connector: Connect this jack to an optional A-BUS-certified remote room keypad or amplifier to extend the multiroom capabilities of your AVR 5550. See page 18 for more information on A-BUS. 8-Channel Direct Inputs: These jacks are used for connection to source devices such as DVD-Audio or SACD players with discrete analog outputs. - Page 9 (+) terminal on Front Right speaker. Connect the black (–) terminals on the AVR 5550 to the black (–) terminals on the speakers. See page 15 for more information on speaker polarity.
- Page 10 RS-232 Port: This jack is used to enable the AVR 5550 to be controlled by an external com- puter or programmable remote system that uses RS-232 commands. Due to the complexity of RS- 232 connections, we recommend that they be made by a trained and qualified custom installer.
