Operating the cassette player/recorder

The correct cassette
Exclusively suitable are Audio Compact Cassettes of the
type Normal (FE Tape).
Ideally, utilise cassettes with a length of 60 or 90 minutes.
Longer tapes are typically made of thinner material and
are more likely to be caught up in the tape transport
mechanism.
Always store cassettes in their cases. Otherwise, the lightly
magnetic tape attracts dust particles from the air and these
can then become deposited on the tape heads during
playback.
Protect cassettes from strong magnetic fields and high
temperatures. Do not store them close to television sets,
loudspeakers and the heating. The tape could be erased,
stick together or tear.

Preparation for recording
Recording is only possible if the write
protect notches of the cassette to be
recorded on are closed.
With new cassttes the write protect
notches are closed.
After the recording you can protect the
cassette against unintentional re-record-
ing by carefully breaking out the tongues
in the write protect notches with a sharp
object (screwdriver, nailfile).
Should you want to make a recording on
a write protected cassette, simply cover
the open write protect notches with a
piece of adhesive tape. Ensure that the
adhesive tape cannot loosen itself; if it
does, it could get caught up
in the tape transport mechanism.
At the start of the tape there is always a small piece of leader
tape. It serves to protect the tape against tearing or stretching
after fast rewinds. Recording is not possible on this piece of
tape.
>
If necessary, close the write protect notches on the
cassette.
