    1) How does it work? The Cryo-Z uses a compressor to actively cool the nozzle mounted on your CPU in order to chill it down to sub-zero temperature. The Cryo-Z uses sophisticated internal control logic to prevent damage to your system caused by power-outages or incorrect power-up sequences.

  • Page 7 OCZ Technology Group Manual Place your motherboard bracket on top of the foam and mark where the screw holes will be. Repeat this with ALL four pieces of foam (A1, A2, A3 and B1) Once holes are marked, remove bracket from the foam. Drill holes in the foam where your markings are.

    Place the piece of foam (A-1) between your motherboard bracket and motherboard. Fully insert the four 6-32 screws into the bracket and foam. * The Cryo-Z can be retrofitted to all recent platforms by the users at their own discretion.
  • Page 9 OCZ Technology Group Manual After installing the bracket underneath the motherboard, you will need to install one layer of insulation at the top surface of the motherboard. Use one piece of foam (A-2) to cut a shape that fits around the CPU socket on the motherboard.
  • Page 10 Molex connector from your power supply unit. (OPTIONAL) A heating element is included with your Cryo-Z to prevent condensation build-up behind the motherboard. Please mount this heating element to the back of your motherboard, underneath the CPU socket (see next page).
  • Page 11 OCZ Technology Group Manual HEATING ELEMENT INSTALLATION GUIDE (OPTIONAL) Remove the protective film from the heating element. Apply the heating element to the back of the motherboard over the bracket.

  • Page 14 OCZ Technology Group Manual Start with sliding the thick piece of foam (B) over the plastic collar of the Cryo-Z. After foam (B) is mounted, fit foam (A-3) over the nozzle of the Cryo-Z’s copper head. Make sure that the foam is secured by the retention ring.
  • Page 15 OCZ Technology Group Manual Apply thermal paste according to the specifications of the thermal paste manufacturer. Please assure that there are no pieces of insulation on the Integrated Heatspreader of your CPU!
  • Page 16 OCZ Technology Group Manual Align foam (A-3), foam (B) and retension bracket to the motherboard screws. After all three have been aligned, slide the springs over the mounting bolts and apply tension by fastening the included nuts as shown. Please install the springs, washers and nuts in that exact order (as shown below).
  • Page 17 If you followed the instructions in this manual, you are ready to power up your Cryo-Z unit. After a short pre-chill phase indicated by the LCD display on the front of your unit reaching -30°C, your computer system will automatically power on.
