ECMg is lost. The switching occurs when main ECMg address (IP address: Port) has made a TCP/IP level disconnection and Brillante is not able to re-connect that address anymore after number of retries (configurable). Also the switching will happen automatically if Brillante has never been able to connect the main address.

  • Page 28: Configuration File

The <BRILLANTE> </BRILLANTE> delimited field contains the IP addresses of the devices needed in a standard BRILLANTE 1+1 backup configuration. The first IP is the eth1 (in Linux and marked as 2 in the back panel) of the BRILLANTE (main unit) that is used on normal condition.
  • Page 29 This has to be disabled when the system is up and running. For some special purposes the user can define a start up delay for BRILLANTE. In other cases this should be left to 10 seconds. Lowering Execute interval reduces backup trigger delays.
  • Page 30: Triggers

Backup BRILLANTE switches when it detects that main BRILLANTE is not online anymore. If backup unit loses power, main Brillante has to make sure that it is not a network disconnection. So main has to close application processes & eth0 for a while if backup tries to get online. After a while main will resume, if backup has not become online.
  • Page 31: Other Tips

    • startup.bril.conf Update has to be run every time the configuration is altered on the main BRILLANTE. Otherwise when take-over occurs backup will use old configuration and some services might be lost. It will also generate a backup of the old configuration to /teleste/backup/.
