Common Sources of CO Common sources of potentially dangerous levels of CO are: • Poorly maintained furnaces, gas heaters, or fireplaces. • Dirty or plugged chimneys, or flue exhausts. • Poorly maintained gas, oil, or kerosene appliances. • Internal combustion engines (e.g automobiles, lawnmowers, blowers).
