Hardware Installation 1. Turn off the computer. No power must be applied to your computer when you install the internal modem, or the computer could be damaged. 2. Make sure you can freely access the back of the personal computer. Remove the computer cover. -

Windows detects the modem, the message "This wizard searches for new drivers for: PCI Communication Device" is displayed. Click Next. To search for the best drivers for your device, click Next. Insert the driver CD and specify the location: F:\Drivers\FM56-PM\Win9x (F is your CD-ROM drive.) and then click Next. - Page 4 Windows will show the message ”Windows driver file search for the device “AOpen PCI Modem Enumerator” and show the location of driver. Click Next Click Finish to complete the installation procedures.
- Page 5 “Automatic search for a better driver” or ”Specify the location of the driver”. Insert the driver CD and then click Next. If you select ”Specify the location of the driver”. The path of driver is F:\Drivers\FM56-PM\WinME. (F is your CD-ROM drive.) Select AOpen PCI Modem whose location is F:\DRIVERS\FM56-PM\WINME (F is your CD-ROM drive.) and then click...
- Page 6 Select “Search for a suitable driver for my device”. Then click Next. Select “CD-ROM drives” or “Specify a location”. Then insert the driver CD and click Next. If you select “Specify a location” only, and you will need to indicate the path: F:\Drivers\FM56-PM\Win2K_XP. (F is your CD-ROM drive.)
- Page 7 Wizard will find the correct driver for the new device. Then click Next. Read the Digital Signature and then click Yes. Windows will copy the file and finish installing the software. Click Finish to complete installation.
- Page 8 Insert driver CD and then double click Setup icon from the path: F:\Drivers\FM56-PM\WinNT. (F is your CD-ROM drive.) You will see the Modem Board Installation Wizard and then click Next. Wizard will install the modem driver of AOpen FM56-PM Controllerless PCI Modem. Click Next to go into next step.

- Page 10 Installation Procedures for Windows XP Restart PC after inserting the PCI modem into the PCI slot of PC. Then insert driver CD into your CD-ROM drive. When detects modem, Windows will install the driver and finish the installation procedures automatically. You can see the new device in Device Manager.
- Page 11 Select “Install from a list or specific location” and then click Next. Select “Don’ t search. I will choose the driver to install.” Then click Next. Click Have Disk to select the new driver.

Select the model named AOpen FM56-PM Controllerless PCI Modem and then click Next. 10. Click Continue Anyway to continue this installation.
