  • Page 2 A Look at the Hardware Overview The Dell Wireless 4350 Small Network Access Point is an 802.11b/g wireless access point that allows wireless clients access to a corporate network. The Access Point can be configured in the following ways: Wireless hub (Access Point): In this mode the Access Point connects wireless computers to the corporate network.
  • Page 3 The Dell Wireless 4350 Small Network Access Point supports up to 64 wireless clients. It runs at speeds up to 54 Megabits per second (Mbps), and the LAN (wired) port runs at 10/100 Mbps. The maximum distance between the Access Point and each Wireless computer is 300 feet.

    SSID. When installing an access point or wireless adapter in a wireless client, the installation program asks you to enter the SSID. Dell cannot provide you with this information, as it is specific to your network; but you may choose to use the default SSID, wireless, for your Dell Wireless 4350 Small Network Access Point.
  • Page 5 When WEP encryption is enabled, you must set the WEP key in the client to match the WEP key used by the access point because you can ONLY connect to access points that have a matching WEP Key. The Dell Wireless 4350 Small Network Access Point Setup Wizard allows the user to gracefully configure WEP encryption on both the access point and wireless clients.

The Dell Wireless 4350 Small Network Access Point offers both WPA running in PSK mode and WPA with 802.1X authentication.     SSID, (b) wireless channel of operation, (c) WEP encryption (WEP encryption is optional) and (d) Static IP address. In order to use the Setup Wizard to configure the Dell Wireless 4350 Small Network Access Point, the access point must be directly connected via an ethernet cable to the computer that is running the Setup Wizard.

    How to obtain the IP Address of the Access Point To browse to the Dell Wireless 4350 Small Network Access Point's web-based configuration tool, you must known the access point's IP address. The IP address of the access point can be either a static IP address or a dynamically assigned IP address. The default configuration for the access point is with a static IP address of 192.168.2.2.

    Without wireless security options configured in your network, an eavesdropper within your wireless range may be able to access the network and the data that is being transmitted over it. The Dell Wireless 4350 Small Network Access Point provides Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) and Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) encryption for wireless security.
