Warning
When folding the backrest, use caution -
beware of moving p arts.
Safety net 3 - see pa ge 56.
Restoring rear seat b ackr ests
Lift and push b ackrest up and backwards
to restore it to its original position. Ensure
back rest la tches into place by p ushing top
of back rest and pulling it forwards again.

Warning
Ensure that the ba ckrest returns to its
correct position - see pa ge 34.
Nev er adjust the rear seat b ackrests
whilst the vehicle is moving. They could
move in an uncontrolled m anner when
the lev er has been pulled .
Rea r seat armr est 3
The armrest c an be folded down.
If the rear centre seat is being used or the
rear seat backrests are being folded down,
fold armrest upwards.

Seat belts

Three- sta ge restr aint system
The sy stem comprises:
z Three-point seat b elts.
z Belt tensioners, with load lim iters, on the
front seats.
z Airb ag systems for driver, front
passeng er and rear outboard seat
occupants.
The three stages are activa ted in sequenc e
depending on the seriousness of the
acc id ent:
z The automatic sea t belt lock ing dev ic es
prevent the belt strap from being pulled
out and thus ensure that the vehicle
occupants are reta ined in their sea ts.
z The front seat belt buckles are pulled
downwards. As a result, the seat belts
are instantaneously tightened and the
occupants are mad e aw are of the
deceleration of the v ehicle at a very early
stage. This reduces stress placed on the
body.
