2005

2009
The Opel Ampera is unveiled at the Geneva Motor
Show. Opel will be the first European car manufacturer
to introduce an extended-range electric vehicle suitable
for everyday use when it launches the revolutionary
Ampera.
2010
Opel takes part in MeRegioMobil to advance future
mobility by developing three demonstration electric
Merivas. Promoted by the German Ministry for Economy
and Technology, the research project is aimed at
finding out how electric vehicles can be integrated
in the intelligent power networks of the future (smart
grid).
Opel introduces FlexDoors in its new Meriva, innovative
rear-hinged rear doors that facilitate convenient
and safe access to the car – a premiere for a volume
manufacturer.
With the market introduction of the
electric Opel Ampera by the end of
2011, Opel will found a new segment in
the European automotive market and
underline its role as a trendsetter for
progressive mobility solutions. With its
unique electrical drive system, the five-
door Ampera is the ideal vehicle for
everyday use and long-distance travel
for four persons and their luggage.
