Your Projection TV has three colorprojection tubes: one
for red,one forgreen,one for blue.When mixedtogether
in the properproportion, t he outputof these three color
tubes can produceany color.To producethese colors,
however,the beamsmustbe preciselyalignedover each
other so that the colors can be mixed. The processof
aligningthese picturebeams is called =convergence'.
Over a periodof time, the picturetubes can driftout of
alignmentdue to normalbumpsand vibrations or moving
theTV. If youmoveyour"IV,or if, after a time, you notice
colorrings or halosaroundobjectsinthe picture,you may
wantto converge(align)the colors.
To simplify convergence, t he following featureallowsyou
todisplaya test patternof horizontal a nd verticallineson
the screen. Propertyconverged,the linesappear white,
whichisactuallya combination ofthe outputs of thethree
colortubes.The outputofthegreentube isstationary. The
outputsofthe red and bluetubescan be adjusted.When
properlyaligned,the outputsofall three tubes shouldbe
directlyover each otherto producethe white lines.
