As belt is wound around idler pulleys, there is a small bracket on the second pulley from the left of the deck which has a nut to hold it in place. Nowhere in the manual does it say what position it should be in. There are no pictures of it.

The correct position for the bracket with the nut on the second pulley of the Craftsman 917.28746 deck is to ensure the belt is inside the belt keeper and all pulley grooves, and the bracket should be secured tightly with the nut. The belt must be routed through the stationary idler and clutching idler, and the antirotation link should be reinstalled securely on the right side of the tractor.
