REPLACE SPARK PLUG
Replace the spark p lug each y ear t o
ensure the engine starts e asier and
runs b etter. Set s park p lug g ap at
0.025 i nch. Ignition timing i sfixed and
nonadjustable.
REPLACING THE LINE
1. Twist, then pull off s park plug boot.
2. Remove spark plug f rom cylinder
and discard.
3. Replace with Champion RCJ-6Y
spark plug a nd tighten securely with
a3/4 inch socket wrench.
4. Reinstall the spark plug b oot.
Pre-wound spools offer t he most con-
venient method forreplacing line and
ensuring optimum performance.
• Replacementspools are color-coded
toensure use ofthe correct spool with
your u nit.Besure tousethe same
color spool asthe existing spool.
NOTE: Always clear d irt a nd debris
from cutting head c omponents when
performing any type ofmaintenance.
• Hold s pool and unscrew cap byturn-
ing inthe direction shown on top ofthe
cap.
• Remove line guide r ing and spool.

Use a pre-wound spool orrefill spool
with line.Ifusing a pre-wound spool,
remove tape strip from line and spool.
REFILLING THE SPOOL WITH LINE

1. Cut a length o f30feet o f0.080" (2

2. Insert one end of line into center
cavity of empty spool. Ensure line
will feed into spool in the direction
shown on the spool (counterclock-
wise).
3. Continue feeding line into spool,
leaving 4 - 6 inches (10 - 15 cm)
unwound from center of spool.
INSTALLING SPOOL WITH LINE
1. Install replacement spool.
2. Thread line through line guide ring.

3. Rest guide ring on spool and place
line through slot. Allow line to ex-
tend 4 - 6 inches (10 - 15 cm)
from center of spool.
4. Ensure line remains in slot while
screwing cap on to the shaft.
Only tighten cap hand tight!
